Tri-Town Pee Wees skate shorthanded to Tier III state title game

AMHERST - The Tri-Town Pee Wees had to fight off the penalty bug to earn a trip to the New York state Tier III U12 championshop game.

The Timberwolves were whistled for 11 penalties as they skated to a victory over Batavia-Genesee in sem-final round action Sunday morning.

Drew Rose opened the scoring for Tri-Town with his team skating down two players with an unsassisted marker in the first period. The Timberwolves scored three times in the middle stanza with two goals by Wyatte Roberts and Rose’s second lamplighter of the contest. Andrew Lantry rounded out the Larries scoresheet with a goal late in the third period.

Lantry, Colby Jenkinson and Eli Kocsis had solo assists in the semi-final win for Tri-Town.

Rico DiMatteo had a second period penalty shot stop in the Timberwolves’ net.

Tri-Town will face the Palisades Predators for the Tier III state crown, a club from West Nyack that has outscored its opponents 22-8 in its first four games of the state tournament.
