CANTON — St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies charged two people with drug possession Friday following a traffic stop on Route 11 near Gouverneur.

James A. Delosh, 46, Madrid, was pulled over shortly after 1 p.m. for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, deputies said. A police dog alerted deputies to small amounts of suspected cocaine in the vehicle.

Mr. Delosh was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, as well as operating with a suspended registration and operating with a suspended license.

A passenger, Carol A. Lamora, 42, Potsdam, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.

Deputies were assisted by the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force, Gouverneur police and state police.
