CANTON A man is facing his third arrest this year after he allegedly sent a dozen text messages to an ex-girlfriend in violation of an order of protection.
Randy S. Guyette, 23, of 125 Pink Schoolhouse Road, was charged Sunday with second-degree criminal contempt, a class A misdemeanor, St. Lawrence County sheriffs deputies said.
Court records identified the subject of the contact as Morgan B. Green, 26, whom Mr. Guyette allegedly assaulted two months ago.
On Jan. 2, Mr. Guyette was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree harassment after a dispute with Ms. Green in the town of Canton. State police said he shoved, choked and pushed Ms. Green, who was treated at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg, and released following the incident.
Mr. Guyette was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court and released on his own recognizance in that case.
One month later, he was in trouble again. On Feb. 2, he was charged by state police with two counts of criminal contempt for allegedly violating an order of protection on two occasions. That arrest resulted in him being committed to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, in lieu of $180 bail.
According to arrest records filed in Canton Town Court, Mr. Guyette attempted to contact Ms. Green on three more occasions.
On Feb. 22, he allegedly placed two calls to her from a hotel in Vermont.
Then, on March 6, he allegedly sent nine text messages to her over a three-and-a-half-hour period that afternoon. Investigators said he sent three more messages Saturday evening. Arrest papers do not reveal the nature of the alleged messages.
Mr. Guyette was arrested Sunday on the latest charge, arraigned in Canton Town Court and released on his own recognizance pending further proceedings.
