POTSDAM — The town has contracted with Blue Mountain Engineering, North Bangor, to see how much it would cost to extend water and sewer services up Route 56.

The town has long talked about expanding pipelines to attract businesses to the busy stretch of road just outside the village. A study was commissioned in 2006, but plans were scrapped when they were determined to be too expensive.

The new study will cost $3,750 to $4,500, and, according to town Supervisor Marie C. Regan, it may not amount to much.

“We’re just at the very beginning of a long process that may or may not end up being fruitful,” she said.
