SHELTON, Conn. - The Tri-Town Pee Wees scored early and never trailed in downing Belmont, Mass., 4-1 Saturday night in the Tier III national regional championship. The Timberwolves move on to meet a team from Connecticut in a semi-final matchup at 9 a.m. today.
Eli Kocsis lit the lamp just 17 seconds into the game with an assist dished out to Will Arquiett and then Drew Rose scored 14 minutes later from Trent Dow to give Tri-Town a 2-0 lead after the first period.
Belmont cut the lead in half with the only goal of the second period on an Alec Morin goal at the 6:59 mark. Arquiett restored Tri-Towns two-goal lead 4:36 into the third period with Wyatte Roberts earning an assist. Colby Jenkinson added an insurance goal with an empty netter in the games final minute. Rico DiMatteo made 22 saves in the win.
