ADAMS After doing business in Mannsville for four years, Marcellus Construction has moved into a 5,000-square-foot building across from South Jefferson Central School.
The move last November was made to acquire additional space for the company, which specializes in completing infrastructure projects for municipalities.
Its a better lot and building, about three times bigger than where we were, said company Vice President Joseph J. Cummiskey. Its probably three times bigger.
Marcellus partners with municipalities on projects in central and northern New York, he said, but most projects on which it bids are based in the north country.
The company was operating in Liverpool before it moved to the north country in 2009.
Mr. Cummiskey said being headquartered in Adams, closer to the center of Jefferson County, should help the company build on the success it started in Mannsville.
We did like Mannsville, but Adams is a bigger place with more conveniences, he said. And we know the people on the (village) board, so its a nice fit.
The number of workers employed by Marcellus varies from five to 20, he said, depending on the time of year and workload.
