The Watertown Family Y Daycare has a new director.
Sarah M. Linnemeier, former assistant director, sent a letter to parents Tuesday to announce her new position and the day care staff hires.
According to her letter, she was hired for her new position March 5.
It was an open interview process and she was an outstanding candidate, said Peter W. Schmitt, Y executive director. She has taught pre-K and has been a Head Start masters teacher.
He said she has a bachelors degree in early childhood education and a masters degree in literacy.
While Mrs. Linnemeier was the top pick for the YMCA, she had to wait for the state Office of Children and Family Services to speak with her contacts before the decision could be approved.
Other new hires are receptionist Amanda White and assistant teachers Alison Harvey, Caitlin Flannigan and Claudia Hamilton.
The letter specified all the new assistant teachers have a background in early childhood and hands-on experience with children. Ive been here since August and just stepped up to the position, Mrs. Linnemeier said. I love the day care, and I love the kids.
Mr. Schmitt said he is excited about the pick. While assistant director, he said, Mrs. Linnemeier showed quickly she could handle the staffing assignments and the children at the day care center.
I told her I hope shes with us for a long time, he said.
