MASSENA - Tickets are on sale now for the return of professional wrestling to Massena in April.

TNA Impact Wrestling , which last appeared in Massena in May 2011, is coming back to the Massena Arena as part of TNA’s “The Road to Slammiversary” tour.

“Slammiversary,” one of the company’s major pay-per-view events will be held June 2 in Boston.

Massena’s show will be held at 7:30 p.m. April 19, and tickets went on sale Friday both locally and via phone and Internet. They’re available at the Massena Arena box office, online at www.flynntix.org or charge by phone at 802-863-5966.

Sales are cash only at the Massena Arena box office, according to Recreation Superintendent Richard A. Boprey, who said their box office is generally open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, but call ahead first at 769-3161.

Tickets through the arena box office are $21 for bleachers, $36 for general admission ringside and $51 for Gold circle ringside. Fans who purchase a $51 ticket will receive an early-entry autograph session with select Impact Wrestling superstars.

Among those currently scheduled to perform in Massena are Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle, TNA heavyweight champion Bully Ray, TNA Knockouts Division champion Velvet Sky, Devon, “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan, Magnus and the Aces and Eights faction.

Mr. Boprey said he had asked to have the show return to Massena, and promoters were able to oblige him this year.

“We did well in 2011. They loved being in the Massena Arena. They said, ‘If something ever happens, we’ll remember you.’ Sure enough he called and said there was a slot,” he said. “Based on the success of the event in 2011, the promoters chose us over two or three other arenas that were bidding heavily to get the business.” Mr. Boprey said that, during their 2011 appearance, “they had a great time here. The operation worked very well, and the event went well. It was popular, and they liked the Massena Arena.”

He met with promoters this week to plan the April event.

“The meeting we had went very, very well. It’s a comfort zone for them here. They feel that they’re well looked after. Operationally it works out very well for us. We have the Rod and Gun Club show on the 13th and 14th, and that means it’s easy to change to another event, which will be held April 19,” Mr. Boprey said.

TNA promoter Gary Hathaway said he has been in discussions with TNA about bringing the show back to the area. They’ll also be appearing in Rouses Point the next night.

“It’s been two years. We like to give it some time at the areas that we do,” he said.

Mr. Hathaway said they were “really happy” with the reception they received in Massena in 2011.

“Massena has great fans. That’s what they (TNA officials) like. It was a good show and the reception was great,” he said, noting that with the lineup of superstars coming to Massena this time “fans should really get a great show.”
