Hammond JV’s note comeback season

HAMMOND - The Hammond JV Girls Basketball team completed a great comeback season from a year ago.

“Last year we were very, very young, and still were this year, but mentally we grew leaps and bounds. We turned the season around from last year and finished 14-4 overall and lost the D-West league title by one game,” said Hammond Coach Shawn Dack.

The JV Devils split games with Lisbon, Edwards-Knox, and Harrisville in the NAC West, beat Heuvelton, Morristown, Hermon-Dekalb twice as well as Potsdam in a non-league crossover. Lady Devil JVs also went 1-1 in the OFA Ben Cordwell Tournament.

The team is comprised of primarily seventh and eighth grade girls with three ninth graders graders out of the 10 girl roster.

“These girls will have some work to do in order to continue the level of success, and I am sure they will,” stated Dack who led his varsity team to a NAC West championship, the Section 10 D-2 championship, The Section Class D Championship and a New York State Final 8 appearance in the recently concluded season.

Members of the JV squad are: 10 - Paige Frisina, 12 - Madison Mullikin, 13 - Morgan Hanley, 20 - Sierra Fleming, 21 - Tayler Hutton, 23 - Ally Crosby, 24 - Melissa Proven, 25 - Morgan Hicks, 31 - Abby Hodgdon, and 33 - Hannah McCarty.
