DWI - POTSDAM - St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies charged Ryan M. Gibson, 22, of 318 Lake Ozonia Road, St. Regis Falls, following a traffic stop Saturday in the village of Potsdam. Deputies said they initially received a complaint of an erratic driver eastbound on the Sissonville Road that had forced another motorist to drive off the roadway to avoid a collision with Gibson’s vehicle in the westbound lane. Deputies said they located the blue Jeep Cherokee from that complaint in the VFW parking lot attempting to re-enter traffic on Market Street shortly after receiving the initial complaint. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and was ticketed for failure to keep right, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle on a public highway and refusal to submit to a breath screening device. He later took a breathalyer test and reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.17 percent, more than double the .08 percent threshold for a DWI charge. He was released on appearance tickets for April 11 in Potsdam Town Court.
