To The Editor:
The Massena Town Councils decision to get rid of spring clean up shows the contempt and lack of respect they have for the voters.
Time and time again the people have shown that they want this service and time and time again the town has tried to destroy it.
Have these people ever heard of letting the people have some input on decisions that affect them? Why not hold a referendum and let the voters decide once and for all if they want this to continue.
Believe me, no one will ever see one penny of any money saved. Dimes to dollars says they already have this money spent on a pet project. If they had half a brain, theyd realize a lot of people are just going to put their junk somewhere on their property. This will lead to an even messier looking town and create more fire hazards.
They say bring it to the transfer station. Do they really believe everyone has access to a truck or the where with all to get there?
Their decision to do this is just an end around play designed to thwart the will of the people. Democracy is quite a concept. Gray and the rest of his minions ought to try it.
