OGDENSBURG — User fees for the city’s three recreational facilities are going up for the first time in up to six years.

“It was time for a change,” said Parks and Recreation Director Matthew J. Curatolo.

The fee increases were endorsed by the city recreation commission and approved Monday by the City Council.

The increases of $5 to $15 apply to the Richard G. Lockwood Civic Center, the Dobisky Visitors Center and the municipal pool.

The new hourly arena rates:

n Youth resident — $65, up from $60. This includes Ogdensburg Minor Hockey and the Ogdensburg Figure Skating Club.

n Youth non-resident — $80, up from $75.

n Adult resident — $75, up from $70. This includes Young and Old Timers hockey groups.

n Adult non-resident — $90, increased from $85.

n Birthday parties — $65, up from $55.

n Non-prime hours — Before 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, $60, excluding holidays and school breaks.

This replaces the after-10 p.m. slot at $55 per hour, which Mr. Curatolo said was “rarely, rarely used.”

n Non-ice hours — $40 an hour for nonprofit events, and remaining at $400 for the day of profit events.

The new Dobisky Visitors Center rates:

n Large room for up to 75 people — $55 for four hours, up from $45.

n Small room for up to 35 people — $35 for four hours, up from $25.

n Both rooms for up to 100 people — $90 for four hours, an increase from $75.

“You’re paying for location and top-of-the-line facilities,” Mr. Curatolo said.

The Elsa M. Luksich Municipal Pool’s party rate will rise from $40 an hour to $50 an hour.

For now, Mr. Curatolo said, the recreation commission has not recommended raising admittance rates at the pool, nor will it raise rates for any winter or summer programs or camps.
