OGDENSBURG - The union representing the Ogdensburg Police Department’s two lieutenants and five sergeants has reached a two-year contract agreement with the city.

The 2012-13 contract for the Police Supervisory Unit, approved earlier this week by the council, ensures that new sergeants are paid a greater percentage more than a highest-paid patrolman’s base pay.

For 2012, the retroactive increase will be 7 percent. That, according to City Comptroller Philip A. Cosmo amounts to a rise of $56,170 from the base of $52,495. For this year, increase is 8 percent or $58,254 from a base of $53,939.
