Senior Brianne Arthur recorded 11 points, including eight goals, to spark Watertown High School past Mexico, 14-6, in the girls lacrosse nonleague opener for both teams on Thursday.

Morgan Cadwell added four goals and an assist for the Cyclones, and Morgan Exford chipped in with a goal and an assist.

Victoria Towndrow and Jamie Wallace tallied two goals apiece for Mexico.

SOUTH JEFFERSON 12, JORDAN-ELBRDIGE 11

Morgan Alexander scored off of a pass from Clarissa Perry with two minutes, eight seconds left in regulation to give the Spartans a victory over the Eagles in a season-opener for both teams in Jordan.

Alexander scored six goals for South Jefferson, while Perry contributed three goals and two assists. Courtney Ziggler made eight saves for South Jefferson.

Kali Kimak tallied five goals and Kelsey Youmell scored four goals for Jordan-Elbridge.

IHC 13, ROME FREE ACADEMY 4

Kayla Miles registered five goals and five assists as the Cavaliers opened their season with a nonleague win over the Black Knights in Rome.

Olivia Miles, Danielle Pound and Rachel O’Brien each added two goals for Immaculate Heart Central.

Rebecca Kieffer made 15 saves for Rome Free Academy.

BOYS LACROSSE

CARTHAGE 12, GENERAL BROWN 1

Bailey Wilkenson and Paul Bracy produced three goals apiece, as the Comets cruised to victory in a Frontier League crossover game in Dexter in the season opener for both teams.

Casey Boulio, Seth Leonard and Bryan Peloquin contributed two goals each, and Trevor Gibbons made five saves for Carthage.

Michael Roukous scored for General Brown.

BASEBALL

GENERAL BROWN 9, SACKETS HARBOR 6

Ryan Ellis went 2-for-4 with four runs batted in as the Lions used a four-run fourth inning to open the season with a win over the Patriots in Dexter.

Peter Will supplied two hits, drove in two runs and picked up the win on the mound for General Brown.

Billy Newcombe paced Sackets Harbor with a pair of hits.
