Funeral services for Claire Lillie Miller, age 90, of Ogdensburg, will be held on Monday, April 1, 2013 at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 10:00a.m. with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Calling hours will be held from 2:00 to 5:00pm on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Frary Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in the Spring. Claire passed away on Wednesday, March, 27, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Claire is survived by her three sons, Orville C.(Bud), Glenn P. and his wife, Vickie, and John A., all of Ogdensburg; two daughters, Judy A. Bishop and her husband Gilbert of Ogdensburg and Patricia Miller Marie Benishek of Syracuse; a sister, Beth Livingston of Heuvelton; twenty grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by an infant daughter, Mary Doris in 1963; a daughter, Linda Lee Miller in 2012; four brothers, Leland, Charles, Karl and Walter; two sisters, Doris Kring and Mary Wicks and a grandchild.

Claire Miller was born on February 22, 1923 the daughter of Charles W. and Bertha D. Howard Parker in Gouverneur, NY. She graduated from Gouverneur Central School in 1939. She first worked at J. J. Newberry for a period of time and then went on to St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center School of Nursing as a therapy aide and then retired from the Social Services Department in 1983 after 18 years of service. She married Orville G. Miller on Sept. 4, 1940, in St. Mary’s Cathedral with Monsignor Francis G. Coseo officiating. He predeceased her in 1997.

Claire was also a past member of the Knights of Columbus and served on the board of elections. Her hobbies included; sewing, knitting, gardening, crossword puzzles and doing ceramics.
