HARRISVILLE A Harrisville woman was charged Tuesday by state police with filing a false written statement in connection with information she allegedly gave police about a fatal accident last April.
Jenna E. Palmer, 26, Harrisville, was arrested following an investigation into her statement about the fatal one-vehicle accident on April 29 on South Creek Road in the town of Diana that claimed the life of Tyler A. Lyndaker, 23, Long Pond Road, Croghan.
Ms. Palmer, a bartender at the Harrisville Rod & Gun Club, told police that Jacob W. Campeau, 31, Van Amber Road, Castorland, was the driver of the vehicle that crashed. But the investigation determined Mr. Lyndaker was behind the wheel, Detective Daniel G. Tordy said.
The two men had been drinking at the clubs restaurant before the crash happened, he said. The accident occurred around the corner from there when the vehicle went off the road and struck a tree, ejecting Mr. Lyndaker.
Ms. Palmer gave a statement that she saw Mr. Campeau get into the drivers seat, but a witness told investigators he was the passenger. Blood evidence from the accident scene also proved Mr. Campeau was not driving, Detective Tordy said. He said he does not know why she gave the incorrect information.
Ms. Palmer was ordered to return to Diana Town Court to answer to the charge.
