Settlers of Catan was introduced in Germany in 1995 and has since been translated into several languages. In recent years, it has become extremely popular with techies in Californias Silicon Valley and has become one of the most popular board games in the United States.
In the game, players assume the roles of settlers, each attempting to build and develop holdings while trading and acquiring resources.
The tournament, in two rounds, will be based on the basic game and not one of the several expansions available for the Catan series.
