High school roundup: Cavaliers rout Buccaneers to close road trip


WILMINGTON, N.C. — Olivia Miles and Danielle Pound each scored four goals and Kayla Miles added one to go with five assists as the Immaculate Heart Central girls lacrosse team downed Laney, 19-4, to complete a two-game trip in North Carolina on Wednesday.

Rachel O’Brien and Shelbi McIlroy each tallied three goals for the Cavaliers (3-0). Haley Meir had a pair of goals for Laney (4-3).

n Tom McNaney and Kevin Hutchings each finished with two goals and two assists to lead Marcellus (2-1 overall) to an 11-7 nonleague victory over General Brown in a high school boys lacrosse game in Dexter. Colton Erb scored a game-high four goals and Cole Johnson scored twice for the Lions (0-3). Parker Smith made 10 saves for General Brown.

n Ryan Bajjaly and Jared Bellinger each went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, but the Watertown baseball team lost a nine-inning game to St. Albans (W.Va.), 7-6, on the second day of the Mingo Bay Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. On Tuesday, Bajjaly hit a walk-off single in the eighth to lead the Cyclones (1-1) to a season-opening 6-5 victory over Saranac.
