Lewis County Hospital Foundation seeking new director

LOWVILLE — The Lewis County Hospital Foundation is seeking a new executive director.

“I think for the right person, this could be an outstanding opportunity,” said D. Ross Wachowski, a foundation board member heading the search.

The nonprofit foundation, created in 2001 to help raise funds for capital projects, equipment purchases and other expenses at the county-owned hospital, has been led by Timothy W. O’Connor since he was named its first director in 2005.

“He got us started,” said Mr. Wachowski, the director of human resources at Climax Packaging Co., Lowville.

However, Mr. O’Connor has decided to retire and is working on a part-time basis until a new, full-time director can be brought in.

“We see this as an opportunity to bring in someone with new ideas,” Mr. Wachowski said.

Candidates do not necessarily need to have extensive experience, and the position could provide a “fantastic learning opportunity” for someone interested in the marketing and business field, Mr. Wachowski said.

The foundation director reports directly to hospital CEO Eric R. Burch and provides regular updates to its board.

Anticipated duties would include organizing community fundraising events, soliciting donations from hospital vendors, area companies and community residents, securing grant funding, establishing and administering a planned giving program, maintaining financial records and bank accounts and ensuring the community understands the foundation’s mission.

Candidates are to have at least a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales or a related field and one to three years of experience in a sales or marketing role, preferably with a non-profit organization.

They should also offer strong communication and advanced interpersonal skills, an aggressive and engaging personality, ability to multi task, attention to detail, a high level of integrity and commitment to the foundation and hospital.

The position features an annual salary range from $28,000 to $36,000, with the potential for up to an additional $20,000 in performance-based bonuses.

Resumes may be submitted by email at Applications will be accepted through mid-April.
