The Lodge restaurant headed for new ownership

MORRISTOWN — The Lodge is destined for new ownership this spring as owner Lorraine Larose finalizes the sale of the building to an undisclosed buyer.

“It’s not completely taken care of,” Mrs. Larose cautioned, although a “sold” sign has gone up in front of the building.

Allison Chadwick, owner of Bruyere Chadwick Reality, Ogdensburg, said the buyer had “asked for confidentiality about the sale.”

Mrs. Chadwick declined to comment further on the sale, but said details would be released in the next several weeks.

Mrs. Larose said she doesn’t know the buyers, adding that they are “just starting the process” of the sale.

The Lodge has been a staple in Morristown for decades, although Mrs. Larose didn’t become the owner until the turn of the century.

Mrs. Larose said she couldn’t remember the exact year she purchased the property.

After the Lodge went out of business in October 2007, Mrs. Larose leased the building for several years to Christopher Armstrong and his family.

The building has been sitting vacant since spring 2011, when Mr. Armstrong’s restaurant — also called the Lodge — closed.

But the building technically has been for sale since October 2007, Mrs. Larose said, adding that potential buyers have had a hard time getting financing.
