A newly adopted plan will help restore populations of endangered spruce grouse, according to a release from the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
Among the measures are managing habitats, reintroducing spruce grouse into selected sites and conducting research to determine the best source of the bird to bring into the state.
DEC said genetic testing it completed had demonstrated that without human intervention, the states population of the bird could be lost.
