Fine arts director Richard P. Weber will have more responsibility come August.
On Monday, the Carthage Central School Districts Board of Education approved Mr. Weber to replace Jennifer L. Vail as Carthage Elementary Schools principal when she retires in mid-August.
The approval came after the boards executive session, according to Superintendent Peter J. Turner. Mr. Weber will have a three-year probationary period.
Mr. Weber will keep his current duties in addition to his new role as Carthage Elementary principal, according to a released statement from the district. The director of fine arts position will remain vacant.
The release states Mr. Weber began his career at Carthage Elementary as an art teacher and later moved to the middle school.
