HEUVELTON — Matt Guardino singled to drive in Chris Power from second base with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, leading the Heuvelton baseball team to a 10-9 victory over Harrisville in a Northern Athletic Conference West Division game Tuesday.

Guardino went 2-for-5 for Heuvelton. Cody Holland went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs.

Chris Sullivan and Nick Weir went 3-for-4 for the Pirates.

MORRISTOWN 10, HERMON-DEKALB 4

Bobby Simmons struck out 17 to lead Morristown in a West Division game in DeKalb Junction.

Luke King had three hits for the Green Rockets (1-0) and Dakota Marshall added two. Tim Harmer led the Demons with a three-hit effort.

SOFTBALL

HEUVELTON 21, HARRISVILLE 5

Logan Tallman threw a no-hitter, despite giving up five runs, as the Bulldogs beat the Pirates in a West Division game in Heuvelton.

Tallman finished with seven strikeouts for Heuvelton (1-0) in the five-inning game. Hannah Thornhill went 3-for-5, including two doubles, and drove in six runs. Abby Williams produced three hits.

COLTON-PIERREPONT 12, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 8

Morgan Doyle, Andrea Aldous, Eve Whalen and winning pitcher Sabrina Johnson each singled and drove in two runs to lead the Colts (1-0) in an interdivision game in South Colton.

Mickey Frego homered twice for the Flyers (0-1).

HERMON-DEKALB 14, MORRISTOWN 13

Chelsea MacKay went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs to lead the Demons to a season-opening West Division victory in DeKalb Junction.

Sabrina Wood had two hits for the Demons.

Jessica Geddes produced two hits, including a home run, for the Green Rockets.

Margret Troiano hit a three-run homer for Morristown.

BOYS LACROSSE

CANTON 6, MASSENA 5

Canton survived a second-half rally to defeat the Red Raiders during a season-opening Northern Athletic Conference game in Massena.

The Golden Bears led 3-0 at the half.

Jack Elberty led Canton with a goal and two assists.

Sako Rouke and Ross Driscoll scored twice for Massena.

POTSDAM 14, SARANAC LAKE 5

Chad Varney supplied two goals and three assists to lead the Sandstoners (1-0) in Potsdam.

Steve Lewis scored three goals, and Kyle Grant added two goals and two assists. Chris Stone scored twice.

Seth Pickering led Saranac Lake (0-1) with four goals.

SALMON RIVER 13, ST. LAWRENCE 5

Dalston Day supplied three goals and one assist, and Skylar Thomas added three goals as the Shamrocks (1-0) won in Fort Covington.

Russ Oakes and Trenton Tarbell scored two goals for Salmon River.

Ian Lynch led the Larries (0-1) with three goals.

OFA 9, COLTON-PIERREPONT 4

Andrew Roddy tallied four goals and two assists to lead the Blue Devils at Potsdam High School.

Jake Garrison added two goals and three assists for OFA (1-0).

Scott Boyce led the Colts (0-2, 0-1) with two goals.
