CARTHAGE A village resident was charged by state police for allegedly taking a prescription pad to obtain painkillers.
Police said Nathan I. Koster, 20, of 34001 Route 126, took the pad from his grandfather, a retired doctor, before writing himself a prescription for oxycodone pills. He later filled the prescription at the Walmart Supercenter, town of LeRay.
Arrested at 4:40 p.m. Saturday on Route 126 in Champion, he was charged with petit larceny, second-degree possession of a forged instrument, petit larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
He is scheduled to appear in LeRay Town Court.
