LOWVILLE Lewis County officials have received nine applications for their soon-to-be vacant county manager post.
County legislators will be asked to review the resumes by Wednesday and indicate the candidates they would like to interview, said Board of Legislators Chairman Michael A. Tabolt, R-Croghan.
Interviews with the board will then be coordinated through the county Human Resources Department, likely starting late this week or early next week, he said.
Only four people had applied for the position as of the middle of last week, but several more came in just prior to Mondays deadline, Mr. Tabolt said.
The chairman said he was encouraged by the quality of the candidates, who hail both from within the county and elsewhere.
County Manager David H. Pendergast will retire April 30 after five years in the position.
