Man stabbed in what Ogdensburg police called a drug-related incident

OGDENSBURG - City police on Tuesday arrested a 19-year-old Rochester man in the alleged drug-related stabbing of another man Monday at about 8 p.m. at 1130 Ford St.

Police said Olajuwon Holt, also known as “Fraido,” was charged with first-degree attempted assault, first-degree robbery, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

The man who was stabbed, Michael Wells, 37, resides at 1130 Ford St., but was not at home when police arrived, 20 minutes after the incident occurred. Police said they located him at the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Emergency Room, where he was being treated for two stab wounds: one in the center of his chest and the other on the left side of his abdomen. He was treated at the hospital and released.

Police said they were later able to locate Mr. Holt, who initially fled from them on foot, in the upstairs bedroom of a Mill Street home.

Police said Mr. Holt had gone to Mr. Wells’s home to buy marijuana, but instead grabbed the drugs and money and stabbed Mr. Wells.

He was arraigned in city court Tuesday afternoon. Further information was not immediately available.
