Marston to present writing for children workshop

An award-winning children’s author will share her knowledge during a writing-for-children workshop.

Hope I. Marston, author of more than 30 children’s books and two adult works, will present the session from 6 to 8 p.m. April 25 at the Sally Ploof Hunter Memorial Library, 101 Public Works Drive, Black River.

The Black River resident’s “My Little Series” award-winning wildlife picture books have more than 125,000 copies in print. Her “My Little Book of Manatees” was voted Best Picture Book of the Year in 2007 by the Adirondack Center for Writing. “My Little Book of Bald Eagles” received the 2012 Next Generation INDIE Book Award in the Best Children’s Juvenile Nonfiction category.

She also has published two historical novels for young readers, “Eye on the Iditarod: Aisling’s Quest” and “Sackets Harbor Powder Monkey — The War of 1812.”

Participants are asked to bring an idea for a picture book and writing utensils.

The fee for the workshop is $10 and reservations may be made by calling the library at 773-5163 or by email at
