UTICA Chelsea Monroe, a junior on the Utica softball team, was named the ECAC Upstate Softball Player of the Week on Wednesday.
The 2010 General Brown graduate, who was also named the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week, hit for a .429 average and slugged four home runs to help the Pioneers (18-8) to a 6-0 record. She drove in seven runs and finished the week with a 1.357 slugging percentage.
For the season, Monroe, who previously played the past two seasons at Jefferson Community College, ranks second on the team with a .412 average and is tied for third in the conference with six home runs. She leads the team with a 1.029 slugging percentage and a .462 on-base percentage.
