ADAMS — Ryan Pete laid down the bunt to score Cody Spencer on a suicide squeeze in the top of the eighth inning to lead Carthage past South Jefferson, 12-11, in a Frontier League crossover baseball game on a windy Thursday.

Carthage scored seven runs on seven hits in the seventh inning. They had just one hit and trailed 8-4 entering the frame.

Spencer singled in the eighth, then stole second and third base before scoring the go-ahead run. Dylan James drove in two runs on two hits for the Comets (3-1, 3-0).

Logan LaFlamme provided three hits, including a double, for the Spartans (1-3). Cameron Heasley and Marcus Shelmidine added two hits apiece.

IHC 7, A-P-W 6

Winning pitcher Robin Massey and drove in two runs to carry the Cavaliers to a crossover win over the Rebels in Parish.

Louis Freda knocked in two runs on two hits for Immaculate Heart Central (2-0).

Tyler Skellington went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI for Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (0-3).

LAFARGEVILLE 6, BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 0

Matt Valin struck out 14 in a complete-game one-hitter to lead the unbeaten Red Knights to a “D” Division victory over the Panthers (2-1) in LaFargeville.

Ethan Johnson provided a two-run double in the sixth inning for LaFargeville (4-0).

COPENHAGEN 11, ALEXANDRIA 5

Winning pitcher Cody Petrus also singled three times and drove in a pair of runs to pace the Golden Knights to a “D” Division triumph in Alexandria Bay.

Brandon Moser doubled, singled twice and drove in three runs for Copenhagen (3-0). Petrus recorded eight strikeouts for the Golden Knights.

Colby Hunter doubled and singled twice for the Purple Ghosts, and Dylan Delosh rapped out two singles.

SACKETS HARBOR 19, LYME 11

Alex Keegan and Shawn Cuddleback each banged out four singles to pace a 21-hit attack as the Patriots won a “D” Division game in Chaumont.

Chase Urbanowicz singled three times for Sackets Harbor (2-2).

Forrest Stafford doubled and singled twice for the Indians (0-4).

BEAVER RIVER 17, GENERAL BROWN 7

Tarren Farney drove in four runs on three hits, including two doubles, to help boost the Beavers to a crossover victory at Dexter. The matchup was played as a home game for Beaver River.

Christian Widrick pitched a complete game, striking out eight, for the win. Jordan Boliver and Erik Lyndaker each contributed three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs for Beaver River (3-1).

Erik Wollum went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple and two RBIs. Peter Will produced two hits, including a home run, for General Brown (0-5, 0-4).

SOFTBALL

SOUTH LEWIS 5, LOWVILLE 4

Jayne Strigle singled in the tying run in the top of the seventh inning and scored the winning run on an error as the Falcons edged the Red Raiders in a “C” Division game in Lowville.

Drianna Crofoot tossed a complete game, scattering 13 hits, to earn the win for South Lewis.

Rachael Waite singled four times for Lowville (1-1), and Haley Riley chipped in with three singles and drove in a run.

Catherine Lyndaker singled twice and drove in two runs for the Red Raiders.

SOUTH JEFFERSON 19, CARTHAGE 0

Jackie Decker went 4-for-5, including two doubles, and drove in three runs to pace the Spartans to a crossover victory in Adams Center.

Heather Williams and Janessa Vaadi combined on a one-hitter for South Jefferson (4-0) in a game shortened to five innings because of a mercy rule.

Angela Catalado had three singles and drove in three runs for the Spartans against the Comets (0-3).

GENERAL BROWN 12, BEAVER RIVER 5

Katie and Rhea Pitkin combined for 16 strikeouts to lead the Lions to a crossover victory at Beaver Falls.

Katie Pitkin struck out 11 and gave up one hit in five innings.

Rhea Pitkin also went 4-for-5 with three RBIs. Nikki Maier drove in a run on two hits, including a double. Chelsea VanTassel smacked a double and a triple for General Brown (4-0).

Sidney Hawksley hit a three-run home run in the sixth for Beaver River (0-4).

COPENHAGEN 6, ALEXANDRIA 5 (8)

Brooke Spaulding went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs, and singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth to lead the host Golden Knights to a “D” Division win over the Purple Ghosts.

Alicia Evans went 2-for-4 with a home run, and Liz Martin struck out six in a complete game for Copenhagen (2-1).

Mikaela Benny and Rachael Calhoun each finished with two hits for Alexandria (2-1). One of Benny’s hits was a triple.

LYME 8, SACKETS HARBOR 2

Taylor Brown struck out nine and gave up one earned run as the Indians secured a “D” Division victory over the Patriots (1-3) at Chaumont.

Mikayla Warren and Alison Tarwater each batted in one run on two hits for Lyme (2-3).

LAFARGEVILLE 30, BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 2

Amber Klock struck out nine over five innings as the Red Knights posted a “D” Division win at LaFargeville.

Jenna Sharp drove in seven runs on three hits, including a pair of doubles. Lauren Labiendo had three hits and three RBIs, and Lacey Black added three hits and two RBIs for LaFargeville (4-0).

Karen Fargo supplied the only hit for Belleville Henderson (0-3).

BOYS LACROSSE

GENERAL BROWN 14, INDIAN RIVER 1

Cole Johnson (five goals, one assist) and Michael Roukous (four goals, two assists) each totaled six points to fuel the Lions in a crossover game in Dexter for their third straight win.

Jake Purvis had two goals and an assist for General Brown (3-3, 3-1), while teammate Lee Bauter chipped in four assists.

Goalie Parker Smith made five saves for General Brown and Matt Roberts finished with three saves.

Kaleb Loar finished with seven saves for the Warriors (1-3).

SOUTH JEFFERSON 14, LOWVILLE 0

Brett Maguire provided game highs with three goals and three assists to lead the Spartans to a “B” Division shutout of the Red Raiders (0-5) in Lowville.

Taylor Lucas and Austin Robare each added two goals and two assists for South Jefferson (1-5, 1-2).

GIRLS LACROSSE

INDIAN RIVER 21, OFA 4

Katie Brierton tallied five assists to become the school’s all-time career leader, and Paige Fayette added six goals and two assists to lead the Warriors to a nonleague win at Philadelphia.

Brierton also scored four goals for the Warriors (4-2). She broke the career goals scored record earlier this season.
