SARATOGA - St. Lawrence University’s men’s outdoor track and field team had an individual champion and won the 4x400 relay, but had to settle for a third place finish in the six-team Liberty League Championships at Vassar on Saturday.

Graduate student Elizabeth Edwards and sophomore Divya Biswal were two-event champions, capturing two of nine Saint individual titles and the St. Lawrence women pulled steadily away to win their second straight Liberty League title.

MEN’S MEET

Mike Scott won the high jump with a 1.98 meter jump, tying the stadium record while the 4x400 relay team of Ogdensburg’s Jake Fredericks and Nick Crawford, Chris Payton and Vince Maniscalco prevailed in a stadium record time of 3:25.17.

RPI out-dueled RIT 222-168 for the team title with the Saints finishing third with 111.

The Saints added a second in the 4x100 relay with a team of Adrian Wilson, Omaru Kabia, Potsdam’s Shawn Lillie and another former OFA standout in Andy Fisher in 43.35. Crawford added a second in the 400 hurdles in 55.49 with Fredericks finishing fifth and Fredericks was second in the 110 high hurdles. Wilson added a third in the 200 in 23.57. Brendan Courneene was second and Steve Petramale finished fourth in the 5000 meters.

Other Saint scorers in field events included Brian Kane with a second in the high jump with Crawford fifth, A.J. Blaisdell was third in the discus while Scott Kasson was third in the shot.

WOMEN’S MEET

Edwards was named the co-Track Performer of the Meet while Biswal, who won both the long and triple jumps, was the Field Performer of the Meet.

SLU won the team title with 216 points with RPI second at 175, RIT third with 107, Vassar fourth with 97, Bard fifth with 14 and Union sixth eight eight points.

Edwards set a Liberty League record in winning the 5000 meters in 17:39.10 and also won the 1500 with a time of 4:48.27. Biswal won the long jump with a 5.19 meter jump and jumped a Liberty League record 11.63 meters on her second jump and did not have to jump again in winning the triple jump.

SLU won the team title with 216 points with RPI second at 175.

The Saints were helped along by 22 points in the javelin. They also had an 18-point day in the high jump, led by senior Kylie Morris, who won the event with a Liberty League record mark of 1.63 meters with Marisa Turner finishing second.

Caroline Raue won the 3000 steeplechase in 10:58.33 and Samantha Weber led the Saint point charge in the javelin with a throw of 30.66 meters. Jessica Marini won the 400 meter hurdles in 1:03.30 with Carly Stine second, both breaking the stadium record while Jessica Tyree won the discus with a 36.27 meter throw. Linder was second in the shot at 11:08 meters. Marini led off the second place 4x400 relay team (4:02.19),

Allison Scarf was second in the 100 hurdles in 16.34 seconds and Kinsey added a second in the 100 and a third in the 200 to her javelin finish.
