To The Editor:
Friends of Marie Carter will be hosting a no-tap bowling tournament today at the Ogdensburg Bowling Alley from 1 to 4 p.m. to help raise money for Maries escalating medical cost. For those of you who know Marie, you have been privileged to know a loving mother, a kind and loving friend and one of the toughest women I have ever met.
After being diagnosed last year with a very aggressive cancer, Marie has shown all of us just how strong and resilient she is, taking every treatment they throw at her, just looking for more time with her family. No matter how tough things have gotten, every single time I ask her how she is doing her answer has been, well not to bad. She can always come up with something positive to say even while suffering the effects of her treatment.
While organizing this event I have been overwhelmed with the generosity of our local businesses who have donated some great prizes for our event. We will have over 50 prizes to donate, as well as a couple of silent auction prizes, including a pink Bubba Watson driver.
While we have enough teams to bowl, we are asking the public to stop by to show their support, to participate in our drawings and enjoy the snacks also being donated by friends and family. If you would like to make a donation, you can either stop by Community Bank to make a donation directly to the account or send a check to the Marie Carter Benefit, c/o Susan Duffy, 7 Butternut Drive, Ogdensburg, N.Y., 13669.
Please keep Marie and her family in your prayers, and thank you to everyone who has been a part of this event.
