LOWVILLE A vehicle accident in the Lewis County General Hospital parking lot caused traffic to be rerouted for much of this morning.
A driver hit a large ground-based transformer box off a handicapped parking area next to the Medical Arts Building at the North State Street facility. That caused hospital officials to redirect all traffic to its Number Three Road entrance, but the restriction was lifted by late morning.
National Grid will need to replace the damaged transformer, likely within the next few days, according to a hospital release. However, electrical service at the facility was not impacted.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our patients and their families and thank you for your cooperation during this recent incident, hospital spokeswoman Christina L. Flint said in a statement.
