Board acted in best interests of students

Sue Shene and Brian Buchanan both held titles at Clifton-Fine Central School that include the word interim — interim superintendent and interim principal. For those who are not aware of what that means they were holding temporary positions. I do not understand why there is so much turmoil going because of Brian Buchanan’s job termination. This man was only supposed to be holding this position temporarily. No one wants to see someone lose their job, but if this man put his hands on a child, it is rightfully expected that the board of education would terminate his position early.

As a community member and having children in Clifton-Fine school, I am appalled by the way our community is handling the recent termination.

Everyone seems it fit to continue to bash the members of the board of education all over Facebook. How soon we forget that the members of the board of education are someone’s mother, or someone’s son, someone’s grandmother. Put yourself in their shoes, how would you feel if your mom, dad, husband. etc., were sitting on the board of education and made a decision that they saw to be in the best interest of the children and community of Clifton-Fine?

Some of the comments on Facebook are just downright hurtful and are being made by some teachers. This type of behavior is certainly not the kind of behavior I want instilled on my children.

We, as the community , voted these board of education members into the positions that they currently hold, entrusting them to make decisions based on the best interest of our children. The bottom line is in my opinion I believe the board of education was doing what they felt they had to do to protect the children of the Clifton-Fine school district. Isn’t that what this is supposed to be about?
