Wendell H. Hutt, 72, of Carthage, NY passed quietly on April 23 from end-stage kidney failure. He died at home in the loving care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

Wendell was born in West Carthage on July 23rd, 1940. His parents were Francis J. Hutt and Leona Curran Hutt. He attended Carthage Central High School where he was a stand-out student, Class President and a star athlete in baseball and basketball.

After attaining a degree in Chemistry from RIT, Wendell married Lynda Redmond of Natural Bridge, NY. They had 4 children; Jeffrey, Bethany, Julie, and Jennifer. In 1972 the family moved to Littleton, CO. There Wendell began his career in real estate; first as an agent and then as as broker and owner of his own agency.

After an amicable divorce, Wendell moved back to Carthage in 1984 to help care for his mother Leona, until her passing in 2001.

He enjoyed a long career in real estate and the many, many friends he made over the years.

Wendell is survived by the love of his life and constant companion, Nancy Meister Bush, his four children and their spouses, Nancy’s two children Calvin Bush and Cathy Bush Golden and their spouses, his brothers O.D., Tom, Charlie and his sister, Mary Janet Hutt Gadbaw. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday April 27th at the Woolworth Memorial United Methodist Church in Great Bend, NY. The family will be present at the church at 10:30 AM to receive condolences with the service to begin at 11:00 AM. There will be an informal gathering in the church community hall immediately following the service. Local arrangements are with the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage.

A second service will be held in Colorado where the ashes will be interred. Memories, photos and condolences may be sent online to julie_tcvc@yahoo.com
