Rays Odds n Ends, 940 Ford St., is bursting with knick-knacks, furniture, glassware and almost anything else you could imagine.
Ogdensburg needed some place where people can buy furniture at discount prices, Ray R. Harmon Jr., co-owner, said.
The store, which opened last week, already carries a variety of items ranging from tools to art, and Mr. Harmon said he plans on expanding the selection.
Well make it work, he said of the daunting task of fitting more merchandise into the store.
Ray R. Harmon Sr., co-owner, said the store is never the same twice thanks to frequent shipments of new goods. He said he and his son also buy merchandise through auctions and online.
It changes all the time, Mr. Harmon Sr. said.
At the moment the store has a sizable toy collection, used book section and antiques. Furniture lines the stores walls and glassware populates the shelves.
The store also features consignments with local artists and craft makers.
And this isnt the first time the father-son team has worked on selling a wide variety of goods.
For the last six months the Harmons have been running a similar business out of the Canton Fashion Kraze flea market.
But because they live in Ogdensburg, they wanted to bring their business closer to home.
We dont have to travel as far, Mr. Harmon Jr. said. Were hoping that people can come here and buy furniture at discount prices. Weve got some nice stuff.
To formally introduce the business to the city, Rays Odds n Ends will hold a grand opening May 3 through 5.
Starting today, anyone who purchases goods at the store will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to the store. Second prize is a $25 gift certificate. The drawing will be May 4 at 2 p.m.
During the grand opening weekend, customers will get 10 percent off their purchases, Mr. Harmon Jr. said.
Its been pretty good, Mr. Harmon Jr. said of the stores first week operating in the city. Weve been getting good feedback from everyone.
The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.
