Heuvelton blasts past Clifton-Fine

HEUVELTON — Logan Tallman doubled twice and added two singles to lead the Heuvelton softball team to a 24-7 victory over Clifton-Fine in a Northern Athletic Conference West Division game Tuesday.

Paige McCormick was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs (5-0 overall and division) and lined three hits, including a double. Hannah Thornhill doubled and singled three times, and Rachel Thornhill produced three singles. Shelby Williams doubled and singled twice.

Delaney Kerr led the Eagles (1-3) with a double and single.

LISBON 9, MORRISTOWN 7

Alison Mitchell provided a pair of doubles to lead Lisbon (4-1) in a West Division game in Morristown. Erica Fishel supplied a triple and a double for Morristown (0-4).

HAMMOND 20-6, HARRISVILLE 11-17

Taylor Bowman homered as Hammond scored 10 runs in the first inning of the opening game of a West Division doubleheader against the Pirates in Harrisville. The Pirates took game two for a split.

Alyssa Crosby singled twice for Hammond (2-2) in the opener, and Emily Bush and winning pitcher Mikayla Horton each added two hits.

Jenna Soper homered and doubled for the Pirates (2-4) in game two.

EDWARDS-KNOX 13, HERMON-DEKALB 10

MacKenzie Jacob struck out 12 and drove in two runs for the Cougars (3-0) in a West Division game in DeKalb Junction.

Courtnay Davis tripled and doubled for the Demons (1-4).

COLTOn-PIERREPONT 8, PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTOn 4

Sabrina Johnson struck out eight for the Colts in an East Division win in Parishville.

Andrea Aldous went 2-for-3 and Kathryn Miller added two hits for the Colts (4-1).

Kodi Perkins and Marlee Wilson each doubled for the Panthers (3-2).

CHATEAUGAY 11, TUPPER LAKE 3

Courtney Boyea struck out 11 as the Bulldogs won an interdivision game in Chateaugay. Boyea also drove in a run for the Bulldogs (2-0).

BASEBALL

MASSENA 4, GOUVERNEUR 3

Joey LaBelle struck out five in two innings of relief to help lead the Red Raiders (2-2, 1-1) to a Central Division win in Massena.

Aaron McEathron struck out eight for Gouverneur (0-2, 0-1).

HARRISVILLE 12-10, HAMMOND 2-4

Chris Sullivan produced three hits in each game as the Pirates swept a West Division doubleheader in Harrisville.

Jared Dreythaler struck out seven in the opener and added two hits for the Pirates (5-1). Justin Hartle doubled three times and Tim Fowler doubled twice in game one.

MORRISTOWN 9, LISBON 0

Bobby Simmons struck out 11 and threw a four-hit shutout as the Green Rockets won a West Division game in Morristown.

Simmons also produced three hits for Morristown (3-1), including a double. Dakota Marshall tripled and doubled, and Tyler Delosh homered and doubled for Morristown.

HEUVELTON 26, CLIFTON-FINE 4

Cody Holland went 5-for-6, including a triple and two doubles, and drove in seven runs to lead the Bulldogs in a West Division game in Heuvelton.

Mike Guardino also went 5-for-6 for Heuvelton (5-0), and Matt Guardino went 4-for-5. Mike Martin and Aaron Cobb each produced three hits.

EDWARDS-KNOX 20, HERMON-DEKALB 1

Tyler Sharpstene and Chris Davison each provided three hits for Edwards-Knox in a West Division in DeKalb Junction. Nick David added two hits for the Cougars (2-1).

PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 3-8, ST. REGIS FALLS 2-6

Mike Burns struck out 10 in the opener as the Panthers swept an East Division doubleheader in Parishville.

Wyatt Snell stroked two hits for the Panthers (2-2) in the second game.

BOYS LACROSSE

ST. LAWRENCE 13, POTSDAM 4

Blake Baldwin scored two goals and assisted on four others as the Larries (5-1) won a Northern Athletic Conference game in Brasher Falls.

Cody Burns and Ian Lynch each scored three goals and Marshall Burninghausen and Lukas Arquiett scored twice.

Cody Compeau had a goal and an assist for Potsdam (3-3).

MASSENA 10, SARANAC LAKE 7

Sako Rourke and Rhoades Tarbell each produced three goals as Massena won in Saranac Lake. Grayson Phillips and Noah Ransom both scored twice for the Red Raiders (4-3).

Jeff Stevens and Oliver Holmes led Saranac Lake with three-goal efforts.

CANTON 15, COLTON-PIERREPONT 2

Brandon Rodee, Gage Emerson, Josh Pierson, Jack Elberty and Garrett Glasgow each scored twice to lift Canton (4-1) in an NAC game in Colton. Andrew Holden and Gyle Dominy scored for the Colts (0-8, 0-7).

GIRLS LACROSSE

MASSENA 18, HEUVELTON 4

Erin Francis scored four goals and assisted on fourt others as Massena won in Heuvelton.

Alisha Jacobs also scored four goals for Massena (4-1). Shannon Casey tallied three goals and Steffanie Premo produced two.

Jackie Sovie scored three goals for Heuvelton (1-4, 1-3).

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

OFA 132, POTSDAM 78

Alex Wood won the 800-meter and 1,600 runs and Taylor Bouchard won the long jump and triple jump to send the Blue Devils to victory in the season-opener in Ogdensburg.

Devin Crary won the shot put and discus and O’den Robertson won the 100 and 200 to lead Potsdam.

HUSKIES TAKE TWO

Rourk Marlow and John Picaro were two-event winners as Malone (3-0) won 145-95 win over Norwood-Norfolk and 185-33 over Tupper Lake in a meet in Norwood. Norwood-Norfolk added a 161-33 win over the Lumberjacks (0-2).

Marlow won the 800 and 3,200 and Picaro finished first in the 400 hurdles and 200.

Will Sciavone won the triple jump and high jump for the Flyers (1-1).

GOUVERNEUR WINS TWICE

The Wildcats (2-0) took advantage of four individual wins to defeat Madrid-Waddington 139-98 and Clifton-Fine 167-46 in Gouverneur. Madrid-Waddington (1-1) earned a 151-48 win over the Eagles. Gouverneur’s wins came from Austin Way (110 hurdles), Bradon Dusharm (long jump), Luke Dunkelberg (800) and Adrian McShane (high jump).

David Dobronski won the shot put and discus for the Eagles (0-2).

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

POTSDAM 158, OFA 158

The season-opener in Ogdensburg ended in a tie for the Blue Devils and Potsdam. Kurstyn Macaulay led OFA with wins in the 400 and 3,000.

Maddie Drechsel won the 100 and 200 for Potsdam.

YELLOW JACKETS CLAIM TWO

Cassidy Scott won the 400, 800 and 1,500 to send Madrid-Waddington to a 160 1/2-130 1/2 win over host Gouverneur and a 189-35 win over Clifton-Fine. The Wildcats defeated Clifton-Fine 207-37. Katie Marcellus won the shot put and discus for Madrid-Waddington.

MALONE WINS A PAIR

Rebekkah Bond and Carrie Pomainville each won twice to lead the Huskies 171-148 over Norwood-Norfolk and 196-78 over Tupper Lake in Norwood. Norwood-Norfolk defeated Tupper Lake 194-74. Bond won the 400 hurdles and the 3,000 and Pomainville won the 800 and 1,500 for Malone.
