Really Big Show kicks off Friday in Potsdam


CANTON –The Really Big Show – the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce’s annual spring event – will bring some 80 vendors plus local musicians, singers, and dancers Friday and Saturday to Clarkson University’s Cheel Arena.

The home, garden and business show will include food, wine and craft vendors as well as live entertainment each day – from acclaimed fiddlers Don Woodcock and Gretchen Koehler to Middle Eastern-style dancer Jessica Stewart.

Live radio broadcasts and merchandise giveaways will also take place. And on both days, attendees can sign up for a chance to win a Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch e-reader, courtesy of The Computer Guys.

Hours for the event are noon to 8 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission each day is $2.

The schedule for entertainment includes, on Friday: fiddlers Don Woodcock and Gretchen Koehler from 4 to 5 p.m.; a performance by Step It Out Dance Studio from 5:15 to 6 p.m.; and a performance by acoustic and folk artists Mary Ann Casale and Andy Van Duyne from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m.

On Saturday, Jessica Stewart will give a Middle Eastern-style dance performance from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and musicians Kaitlyn LaShomb, Troy O’Brien, and Michael Jent will take the stage from noon to 3 p.m.
