A sixth case of rabies this year in St. Lawrence County was confirmed Wednesday.
A raccoon that fought with a dog in the town of Potsdam tested positive for the disease, Public Health Director Susan J. Hathaway said.
With this kind of a start, were very concerned were going to have a very bad rabies season, she said. It looks like its ramping up again.
There was no human exposure with the latest case. The dog was up to date on shots, received a booster vaccination and was fine, Ms. Hathaway said.
Other rabies cases have been confirmed this year in Lisbon, DeKalb, Stockholm and Brasher.
