NAC softball: Massena outlasts OFA, 11-8

OGDENSBURG — The Massena softball team used a four-run sixth inning to pull ahead and went on to defeat Ogdensburg Free Academy, 11-8, in an Northern Athletic Conference Central Division softball game on Thursday.

Massena (2-2 overall and division) trailed the Blue Devils 7-6 before the big inning.

Bailey Dillabough produced two hits for Massena, including a triple. Kaleigh Zappia added a two-hit game for the Red Raiders.

Felicia Barr hit a grand slam in the third for OFA (3-2). Brittany Barr drove in two runs with a triple, and Stacy Barr and Maddie Bresett each provided two hits.

ST. LAWRENCE 18, PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 0

Lindsay Thayer struck out 13 in five innings as St. Lawrence Central blanked the Panthers (3-3) in an interdivision game in Parishville.

Noelle Rufa and Thayer each went 4-for-5 for the Larries (2-0). Kodi Perkins had two of the five hits for the Panthers.

HEUVELTON 14, EDWARDS-KNOX 3

Hannah Thornhill doubled and singled as Heuvelton remained undefeated with a West Division win over the Cougars (2-2) in Russell.

Abby Basford and Abbey Williams both produced two hits for the Bulldogs (6-0).

HAMMOND 19, HERMON-DEKALB 17

The Red Devils rallied from an 11-3 deficit and beat Hermon-DeKalb (1-5) in a West Division game in Hammond.

Alyssa Crosby hit a grand slam for Hammond (3-2). Emily Bush singled three times, and Brianne Langry and Macy Wilson singled twice for the Red Devils.

Xann Gotham tripled, doubled, singled twice and drove in six runs for the Demons. Jenn Gotham produced four hits, including a double, and Courtnay Davis added three hits for Hermon-DeKalb.

LISBON 14, CLIFTON-FINE 4

Lisbon struck for seven runs in the first inning and went on to defeat the Eagles (1-4) in a West Division contest in Star Lake.

Katie Sovie tripled and singled, and Natalia Pitts, Gabby Walker and Nicole Neadom each produced two hits for Lisbon (5-1).

HARRISVILLE 24, MORRISTOWN 9

The Pirates scored 16 runs in the first inning, highlighted by a grand slam from Jena Soper, to defeat Morristown (0-5) in a West Division game in Harrisville.

Soper finished with four hits for the Pirates (3-4). Emma Matott had a three-hit game, including two doubles.

Taylor Piercey homered for the Green Rockets, and Jessica Geddes added three hits.

BASEBALL

HARRISVILLE 9, MORRISTOWN 5

Nathan Weaver tripled and singled twice to help the Pirates (6-1) defeat Morristown in a West Division game in Harrisville.

Nick Weird doubled and singled three times for Harrisville. Joey Butts and Tim Fowler each added two hits.

Dakota Marshall doubled twice and singled to lead Morristown (3-2). Luke King tripled and singled, and Ryan Vollmer doubled and singled for the Green Rockets.

HEUVELTON 17, EDWARDS-KNOX 2

Matt Guardino produced three hits as Heuvelton (6-0) routed the Cougars in a West Division game in Russell.

Nick Davison singled twice for the Cougars (2-2).

HAMMOND 7, HERMON-DEKALB 6

Collin Martin scored the winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh as the Red Devils (2-4) beat Hermon-DeKalb in a West Division game in Hammond.

Nick Jewitt doubled twice and added a single for Hammond. Martin finished with three hits, including a double.

Tim Harmer doubled and singled for the Demons (1-6). Ryan Matthews also produced two hits for Hermon-DeKalb. Brad Weller struck out 15 for Hermon-DeKalb.

CLIFTON-FINE 17, LISBOn 16

Andrew Hartman singled to score Mike Rust with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, leading the Eagles (2-3) past Lisbon in a West Division game in Star Lake.

Logan Hayes produced five hits, including two doubles, for Clifton-Fine. Matt Russell tripled, doubled and singled twice for the Eagles.

Adam Kelley led Lisbon (1-5) with three doubles and a single, and James Darcy added a double and two singles.

ST. LAWRENCE 28, PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 2

Zane Ramsdell struck out six and drove in three runs with a triple as St. Lawrence Central routed the Panthers (2-3) in an East Division game in Parishville.

Josh Taber produced two hits for the Larries (2-2, 2-1).

GIRLS LACROSSE

CANTON 13, HEUVELTON 5

Rachel Huntley and Tess Knight each scored three goals to send the Golden Bears (3-2) past Heuvelton in an NAC game in Canton.

Alison Noble scored two goals for Canton. Jackie Sovie led the Bulldogs (1-5, 1-4) with three goals.

OFA 15, SALMON RIVER 5

Kaitlin Sheppard scored four goals and assisted on four others to lead the Blue Devils (2-5, 2-3) past Salmon River in an NAC game in Ogdensburg.

Nicole Hammond scored three goals for OFA. Mackenzie Bresett and Carly Garrison each tallied two goals. Jaiden Mitchell and Victoria Thompson both scored twice for Salmon River (0-4, 0-3).
