St. Lawrence Central takes down Canton in boys lacrosse


CANTON - St. Lawrence Central outscored Canton 6-2 in the second half, 3-0 in the third quarter to break free from a 4-3 halftime deficit at SUNY Canton on Friday evening in boys high school lacrosse action. Lucas Arquiett scored four goals and drew four assists for the Larries. Ian Lynch produced four goals while Marshall Berninghausen scored twice. Blake Baldwin provided two assists and 12 face off wins in the win where Cody Kocsis made 20 saves.

Jack Elberty scored twice for Canton. Josh Pierson, Brandon Rodee (one assist), and Peyton VanBibber each scored once. Tanner Sanderson had one assist. Nathan Gibson had six saves for Canton. Andrew McCormick had two stops more.

Saranac Lake 8, OFA 6: On Friday, visiting Saranac Lake survived 10 penalties in the first half and five in the second half including a three-minute stick infraction to start the fourth quarter in the win. The Red Storm were led by three goals from Josh Stevens and Seth Pickering and two from Oliver Holmes to back a nine-save eeffort from Mike Burpoe.

Nick Perrigo tallied three goals with one assist for OFA and Jake Garrison and Andy Roddy each finished with one goal and one assist. Jordan McCrmick passed out two assists and Jarred Berg and Justin Feldt each added one assist.

Spencer Lawrence finished with nine saves for the Devils.

General Brown 14, Potsdam 4: On Friday, Jake Purvis generated five goals and Cole Johnson logged three goals and four assists to lead the 6-4 Lions past the visiting Stoners. Tre Frank added two goals for General Brown which scored seven goals in the third quarter. Parker Smith (six saves) and Matt Roberts (four saves) shared the crease in the win.

Kyle Grant, Lewis (one assist), O’Gorman (one assist) and Corning all scored once for Potsdam. Jason Cardinal (five saves) and Palmer (six saves) played goalie.


Canton 13, Northwood Prep 7: On Friday, Lacey Kenny produced four goals, Katie Lapinski tallied three goals and three assists and Emily Pinckney scored two goals and one assist to lead the Bears past Northwood. Rachel Huntley had a goal and three assists for the Bears who fell behind 6-4 at halftime. Megan Howard had 10 saves for the win.

Hutchinson scored three goals for Northwood.

Massena 16, Saranac Lake 4: On Thursday, The Raiders led 14-2 at halftime as Erin Francis erupted for six goals and four assists and Alisha Jacobs added six goals and one assist to lead Massena. Shannon Casey (one goal, two assists), Dominique Valancius (one goal, one assists), Carlie Leary (two goals), Megan Hans (one assists) also contributed to the win as Annalee Beckstead made just two saves in goal.

Sappone and Woodruff each scored twice for Saranac Lake.

General Brown 17, OFA 1: On Friday, Hannah Peeble (three goals, two assists), Taylor Rosette (two goals, one assist), Emily Malone (two goals), Jill Primicias (two goals, one assist), Bryanna Fazio (two goals, three assists), and Morgan O’Hearn (two goals) paced the well balanced Lions effort who led 14-0 at halftime.

Nikki Holmes scored OFA’s lone goal. Maggie Ambrose (1 saves) and Katelyn Longamore (two saves) shared the win for 5-4 General Brown. Marissa Foster stopped 11 shots for OFA.
