To The Editor:
Dear Town of Massena:
My name is Alonie McGee. I go to Alternative Education and am in ninth grade. They are closing the alternative school down. I came here because of bullying. I was born with Tourettes Syndrome, and when I was going to the high school, where I kept getting called twitchy and would be mocked about my twitching all day long. Since I got to Alternative Education the bullying has stopped. Ive met new people. They all help me through my problems and I help them with theirs.
We are all a family at this school. When we heard our school was closing, we all cried. I, along with four others, went to the last school board meeting, and we had a speech prepared that we read to the board members.
We wish we could get more people to come to the meetings and support us and help us keep our school. If we lose this school half the kids in here will drop out because of bullying or because the classes are bigger and we wont get the extra help we need.
This school helps all the kids that are getting bullied or have a hard time in school or have a hard time learning. We like going to school because these teachers are really nice and help us more then we have ever been helped before. We also like this school because we get more one on one help from the teachers.
All in all what Im trying to say is that if we lose this school there is going to be a lot of drop outs and a lot of consequences for the rest of our live. We really would love for people who would like to help us to go to the meetings and help keep our school.
Go speak your mind and say that we need this school. I am also asking the town of Massena to please not support this budget and vote no.
