Maple City Walk to Fitness

The Ogdensburg Parks and Recreation Department will be offering the Maple City Walk to Fitness Program during the entire month of May. Ogdensburg residents, young and old, are invited to walk, run or bike ride along the Maple City Trail starting at the Dobisky Visitor’s Center as part of the program.

This fun outdoor activity will be held from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. rain or shine, each day of the week. Participants are asked to sign-in at the visitor’s center, pick up a card and then place the card in a box on the trail past the Spring Street Bridge to prove participation. The card requires your name and phone number so you can be contacted by department staff.

Youth cards, for those 10 and under, will also have a nature walk built in so they can mark what they’ve seen on their walk along the Maple City Trail.

At the end of each week in May, those participating will be eligible for a small prize that will be given away in a drawing. Prizes for youth will also be available. Prizes include iPod Shuffles, gift cards to Walmart, pedometers, water bottles and biking helmets for youth.

During the last drawing in May, all participants who have walked, biked or run at all during the month will be eligible for the grand prize, an Xbox Kinect gaming system. Participation increases your chances of winning.

The program is funded through the Walmart Foundation.
