St. Lawrence Central rebounds to win pair at Larries Tournament; Bulldogs split


St. Lawrence Central rebounded from a 3-1 loss on Friday to Norwood-Norfolk dropping Madrid-Waddington 15-0 in an NAC East Division play and taking down Heuvelton 16-1 on Saturday.

The Larries allowed only three hits in the two games of the three-team tournament.

SLC 15, M-W 0: Kelsey Newtown fanned five and allowed one hit - a fourth inning double to Emily Upstrom - in the shutout. Lindsay Thayer supplied a 3-for-4 effort with a solo homerun for the Larries. Chelsea Savage went 2-2 with a triple and a double while Haley Agan finished 3-4 with two RBI.

Other Larries contributions were: Noelle Rufa (1-4), Brandi Thomas (1-1), Sam Richards (1-3 2RBI), Caitlin Grow (1-3 2RBI, ), Liz Lynch (rs), and Breanna Vatter (1-2 triple, 2RBI).

SLC 16, Heuvelton 1: Haley Agan belted a three run homerun finishing 4-4 with 5 RBIs and three runs scored as Lindsay Thayer threw a two-hitter striking out nine and allowing one walk. Rachel Thornhill singled in the first and scored on an erroror. Hannah Thornhill chipped in the other Bulldog hit. Providing key offense for SLC were: Chelsea Savage (3-5, 3RBI, 3rs), Noelle Rufa (2-4 2rs), Brandi Thomas (1-4 2RBI, rs), Thayer (1-3 2RBI,), Sam Richards (1-2), Cailtlin Grow (2-4 2rs), Tara Douglass (2-3 rs).

Heuvelton 12, M-W 3: Hannah Thornhill belted a three run homerun and a sacrifice fly and Abbey Basford smacked a double and two singles leading the Bulldogs.

Rachel Thornhill chipped in three singles in a 3-of-4 effort while Miranda Donnelly (2-3, 2 RBIs), Alexis Weidner (2-3), Paige McCormick (1-2), Alexis Sawyer (1-2. 2 RBIs), winning pitcher Logan Tallman (1-2), and Abby Williams (1-2) also contributed. Bridget Beldock and Liz Barkley singled for M-W.

Gouverneur 5, Harrisville 3: Mackenzie Rowe lined two singles and picked up the save in relief of Kortnee Bishop (4 innings, 3 strikeouts, four walks, 2 hits). Rowe fanned five and allowed one hit and no walks.

Lisa Isreau, Bishop, and Sara Rice each singled for Gouverneur. Hannah Weaver fanned eight and walked four in the five-hit setback. Emory Matott, Megan MacIntosh and Brooke Canning singled for Harrisville.

Indian River 11, Gouverneur 0: Kammikia Barnes pitched the one hitter striking out six as Tori Clyde lined a double and a single. Bullock produced the lone Wildcat hit in the sixth inning.

Indian River 29, Harrisville 7: The Warriors received the win from Lakeshia Barnes.
