Natural Bridge man sentenced to 10 years’ probation for sex offense


A Natural Bridge man was sentenced Friday in Jefferson County Court to 10 years’ probation for having sex with a minor female.

David F. Murdock, 39, address not available, also was ordered to register with the state as a Level 1 sex offender after a Feb. 25 guilty plea to third-degree rape. He was charged in an indictment handed up in October with having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl in January 2012 in the town of Wilna.

In other court activity Friday:

Franshon M. Purvis Jr., 26, was sentenced to 11 months in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, with credit for an unspecified amount of time served, after a March 26 guilty plea to third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance. He admitted that he tried to sell cocaine Nov. 28.

In court activity Thursday, Harvey L. McCrae, 40, Watertown, was sentenced to a three-year conditional discharge and ordered to complete the Bridge program after pleading guilty Feb. 22 to fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and second-degree identity theft as a result of one case and first-degree criminal contempt and endangering the welfare of a child stemming from a second incident.

He was accused Oct. 26 of possessing a debit card stolen from Amy J. Ramsey, Watertown, and using it to withdraw more than $500 from her account.

He was accused Nov. 20 of violating an order of protection held by Natosha S. Butts by striking her in the face in the presence of a 2-year-old child. He also was ordered to pay $829 in restitution.
