James Warren Dodge, age 72, passed away on April 25, 2013 in Zephyrhills, Florida after a brief illness.
Born in Watertown, NY on November 21, 1940, the son of Margaret and Merrell Dodge. James graduated from Belleville Central School and later received an Associates Degree in Agricultural Business from SUNY at Morrisville, New York. He and his father Merrell were business partners on the family farm located on Bishop Street in the Town of Henderson for over twenty years.
After the farm was sold, James relocated to Phoenix, Arizona and worked for Arizona State University for 18 years. Upon retirement in 2005, he moved to Zephyrhills, Florida. There he met Iris Burnell and they spent his final years together sharing a home, traveling and enjoying retirement.
James is survived by his son Ernest Merrell and wife Hope Dodge and their two children Eden and Lannis, of Cortland, NY; his daughter Christina Dodge Tackett and husband Donald; and his brother David and his wife Nancy of Henderson, NY and their children Douglas, Lori and Kathryn.
Burial will take place in June. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
