BRASHER FALLS - The Salmon River Central varsity boys lacrosse team survived a fast St. Lawrence Central start in claiming an 11-7 NAC decision on Monday.
The host Larries worked their way to a 4-2 lead by the end of the first quarter but were outscored 7-2 over the next two frames as the Shamrocks continued another undefeated trek through the NAC with their seventh straight win.
If you look at all the statistics for the game, we had more groundballs, we outshot them by two and we won more face-offs but that still wasnt enough for us to win, said SLC coach Chris Rose.
Salmon River just did a better job of capitalizing on their opportunities, he added.
Skylar Thomas netted four goals and helped set up two others for the Shamrocks. Kason Tarbell, Dalston Day and Trenton Tarbell generated two goals and an assist each. Skye Sunday (1 assist) accounted for the other goal while Kyle Lewis drew three assists.
Lukas Arquiett led the Larries with a goal and two assists. Blake Baldwin, Ian Lynch and Marshall Burninghausen added two goals apiece while Styles Arquiett and Brody Simonds each finished with solo helpers.
Kobi Johnson made 14 saves in the winning cause while Kody Kocsis stopped 15 shots for SLC.
The Shamrocks host Saranac Lake on Wednesday while the Larries (5-2) travel to Massena. Both games are slated to face-off at 4:30 p.m.
In the other NAC boys lacrosse matchups on Monday, Canton dropped Massena 13-5, OFA outlasted Colton-Pierrepont 6-4 and Potsdam played at Saranac Lake.
Canton 13, Massena 5: In Canton, the Raiders got off to a promising start when Jordy Mitchell converting off an assist from Tyler Simms for the opening goal 4:02 into the game but the Bears answered with the next five and never looked back to complete their regular season sweep, sealing the win with three unanswered fourth-quarter goals
Gage Emerson anchored a balanced Canton attack with two goals and three assists. Peyton Vanbibber notched four goals while Jack Elberty tallied a goal and five helpers.
Sako Rourke led the Raiders with two goals, Rhoades Tarbell, Jordy Mitchell and Ross Driscoll connected for the others.
Canton netminder Nate Gibson had seven saves backstopping the win while Kyle Cook and Troi Benedict combined to turn aside 13 shots sharing crease duties for Massena.
The Raiders (5-4, 3-4) are slated to host St. Lawrence Central at Mike Nicholas Field on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
OFA 6, C-P 4: In Colton, the Blue Devils produced the only two goals of the fourth quarter for the win. Andrew Roddy led the winning effort with four goals and one assist. Jake Garrison and Nick Perrigo each tallied a goal and assist. Taylor Richardson and Nate Peo both contributed with solo helpers.
Gyle Dominy scored twice for the Colts while Andrew Holden and Cody Green netted singletons.
Spencer Lawrence worked the OFA crease for 10 saves and Craig Miller turned aside nine shots for the Colts, who are slated to play at Potsdam on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
