To The Editor:
Dear Taxpayers of Massena:
Hi. I am the voice for my fellow students of Delta School of Choice (Alternative Education). We have been going to Alternative Education from the start.
Alternative Education is not just a regular school; its our home. You may not realize how much it is hurting, not just the staff, but the students too. When I came to Alternative Education, I felt like I was home. Yourre taking away our family.
What are we going to do if you take our program away? What else are we going to be offered to help us succeed? We look forward to coming to school every day because we know our teachers care about each and everyone of us.
Why do we have to fight for our school every time a school budget comes around? Our program works. We are succeeding. Do you want to see the drop-out rate go up and see us fail? I thought school was a place where students are supposed to succeed.
How do you think our parents feel? They have been looking forward to seeing us taking steps towards our diplomas. Honestly, do you want to see our student body here at Alternative Education drop out because we lost what was home for us?
The Board of Education wanted to see enrollment go up and now that it has you still want the program closed? Do you want to see the students from Alternative Education hiding in the corners of the junior high and high school because theyre getting picked on because the Massena Board of Education took away the only place we felt safe? They will be the ones to fall through the cracks. Whatever happened to the slogan Kids First?
Please tell the Massena School Board of Education to put Delta School of Choice back in the 2013-14 budget.
