Cape Air will open a ticket office in downtown Ogdensburg on Wednesday.
The city location is the airlines second in St. Lawrence County.
The Massachusetts-based commuter air carrier which serves Ogdensburg and Massena international airports will open at 318 Ford St., formerly occupied by St. Lawrence Child Care Council. That agency has relocated to 314 Ford St.
The office is ready to do business, said Jacqueline B. Donohoo, the airlines Northeast marketing manager.
We have hired two part-time employees, and the office will be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., she said Monday.
The opening brings to a close a search for a downtown address for a ticket office that went on for more than a year.
We are very excited to officially have a downtown presence, Ms. Donohoo said. It is important for us to be a part of the community, and this is just another step we have taken to integrate ourselves into it. We look forward to getting to know our neighbors and becoming more involved in the local activity on Ford Street.
Mayor William D. Nelson, who had lobbied from the start for the airline to locate its ticket office in the city center, welcomed the addition.
Its one more business downtown, he said Monday.
The ticket office will occupy 500 square feet of the front section of the buildings first floor.
Cape Airs other ticket office in the county is located at 40 Main St., Massena.
Community Bank N.A. owns the building where the Ogdensburg ticket office is located.
