Brasher teen pleads guilty to his role in Franklin County home invasion

MALONE - An 18-year-old from Brasher Falls admitted his role in a February 2012 home invasion in St. Regis Falls in an apprearance before Franklin County Court Judge Robert G. Main Jr. this week.

Johnathan R. Barto pleaded to a reduced count of third-degree burglary. He could be granted youthful offender status when he is sentenced on July 1; He was 17 years old at the time of the break-in. If not, he could be sent to state prison for up to seven years.

Barto, along with Adam Baublitz, 24, Kassi-Lynn Baublitz, 25, Christopher Randall, 17, Jon-Alec Connell, 19, and a 16-year-old female broke into the St. Regis Falls home of Ritchie DeCarr on Feb. 29, 2012. They brandished weapons including a firearm and a club. Adam Baublitz and Randall received prison time for convictions tied to the incident.

Kassi-Lynn Baublitz was sentenced to a split of county jail time and a probation term, and Connell was placed on probation. The underage female was handled through family court, meaning the case is sealed.

DeCarr was sentenced to six years’ prison time earlier this month for selling cocaine to an undercover narcotics officer last year.

In other recent Franklin County court business before Judge Main:

■ David G. Brothers, 51, of Brasher Falls was sentenced to 15 months to four years in state prison for first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated convictions.

He admitted to the charges on March 11.

Brothers was charged with additional counts of drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle, failure to keep right, broken glass, and no seat belt following a June 23 incident.
