Hospice Foundation of Jefferson County Inc. closed Friday on the sale of its 425 Washington St. property to Washington Street Properties LLC, owned by Watertown businessman Brian H. Murray, for $350,000.
A sale to Watertown accountant Jerry R. Gardner initially was set to close in December, but Alexandria Bay developer P.J. Simao, who has helped raise money for Hospice of Jefferson County, objected to the $150,000 proposed sale price, contending it was well below the propertys full market value.
Mr. Gardner agreed to forgo the purchase if Hospice received a better offer within six months. Mr. Murray, who owns several properties within the city, submitted his offer in February.
